The Marshall RS7-HR distributes serial PTZ control from one controller to as many as seven camera connections. Separate home-run cables connect cameras to the distribution box, providing an alternative to a chained cable route. The RJ45 connectors carry serial control and must not be treated as Ethernet or PoE ports.

Marshall RS7-HR Features

  • Seven-camera home-run topology. One controller cable feeds the box, with separate runs to up to seven cameras. This arrangement is useful when camera positions branch in different directions from a central wiring location.
  • Selectable serial operation. DIP switches select RS-232 or RS-422 operation. The mode is chosen for the camera-control system, allowing the box to fit either supported serial wiring arrangement.
  • RS-232 distance allocation. The stated RS-232 arrangement allows up to 100 m from controller to box and another 100 m from box to camera. Plan the two cable segments separately within those limits.
  • Longer RS-422 segments. RS-422 supports up to 300 m to the box plus 300 m onward to a camera. This provides a longer-distance serial option when the cameras and controller support the required mode.
  • RJ45 serial connections. The RJ45 sockets use CAT cabling for serial control rather than network switching. Follow the serial pinout and keep these connections separate from Ethernet and PoE network ports.
  • Installation and configuration refresh. A refresh button applies connection or DIP-switch changes. Included 19-inch 1RU rack ears and smaller surface-mount ears support installation in either a rack or a local wiring position.
