If you need to convert an HDMI signal to SDI via an coax cable see our HDMI to SDI Converter.
HDMI is a parallel digital (1's and 0's) signal while SDI is a serial signal and a passive cable cannot convert digital signal into DI as a cable is a passive device made up of wire, solder and 2 connectors. The HDMI digital signal sent through 19 digital lines in the HDMI cable and delivered via the HDMI connector cannot be used by any SDI signal input lines.
This HDMI to SDI Cable doesn't work because:
- HDMI has 19 pins whereas SDI has only a center conductor and a shield so an HDMI to SDI Cable won't work.
- HDMI has the HDCP copy protection signal whereas there is no SDI equivalent so a HDMI to SDI Cable won't work.
- A cable is a passive device made up of 2 connectors, solder and wires. It cannot convert one signal type into another so a HDMI to SDI Cable won't work.
