Kramer 4K HDR HDMI Transmitter with RS-232 & IR over Extended-Reach HDBaseT is a high-performance, extended-reach HDBaseT transmitter for 4K HDR HDMI, RS-232 and IR signals over twisted pair. TP-583Txr converts all input signals into the transmitted HDBaseT signal. It enables extending video signal up to 100m (330ft) at 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) video resolution, up to 180m (590ft) at 4K@60Hz (4:2:0), and up to 200m (650ft) at HD video resolution over Kramer copper cables. It is compatible with standard HDBaseT-compliant extenders at 4K@30Hz and HD video resolutions.

Kramer TP-583TXR 4K HDR HDMI Transmitter with RS-232 & IR over Extended-Reach HDBaseT Features:

  • High Performance Standard Extender - Professional HDBaseT extender for providing up to 200m (650ft) extended-reach video signal extension over twisted-pair copper infrastructures. TP-583Txr is a standard extender with backward HDBT compatibility, enabling it to be connected to any market-available HDBaseT-compliant extension product. It employs low-level video compression technology that delivers visually lossless performance for 4K@60 (4:4:4) and HDR signals with near-zero latency.
  • Intelligent Compression Handling - Automatically detects a standard HDBaseT extender without compression and disables the compression to extend the signal in compliance with the detected extender.
  • HDMI Signal Extension - HDR HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compliant. Supports deep color, x.v.Color, lip sync, HDMI uncompressed audio channels, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, 2K, 4K, and 3D. EDID and CEC signals are passed through from the source to the display.
  • I-EDIDPro Kramer Intelligent EDID Processing - Intelligent EDID pass-through algorithm that ensures Plug and Play operation for HDMI source and display systems.
  • Multi-channel Audio Extension - Up to 32 channels of digital stereo uncompressed signals for supporting studio-grade surround sound.
  • Bidirectional RS-232 Extension - Serial interface data flows in both directions, allowing data transmission and device control.
  • Bidirectional Infrared Extension - IR interface data flows in both directions, allowing remote control of peripheral devices located at either end of the extended line.
  • Cost-Effective Maintenance - Status LED indicators for HDMI and HDBT ports facilitate easy local maintenance and troubleshooting. Local firmware upgrade via RS-232 connection ensures lasting, field-proven deployment.
  • Easy Installation - Compact DigiTOOLS® fan-less enclosure for dropped-ceiling mounting, or side-by-side mounting of 3 units in a 1U rack space with the recommended rack adapter.

What 4K resolutions and extension distances does the TP-583Txr support over HDBaseT?

A: The TP-583Txr supports 4096x2160 (4K) at 60Hz (4:4:4) up to 100m (330ft) with standard compression and lists 4096x2160@60Hz (4:4:4) as the Standard Compression max resolution.

Can the TP-583Txr extend uncompressed HDBaseT to longer distances with other HDBaseT devices?

A: Yes — the unit is a standard HDBaseT extender that auto-detects a non‑compressing HDBaseT partner and disables compression to extend an uncompressed signal in compliance with that extender.

What HDCP and HDMI features does the TP-583Txr pass through?

A: The transmitter is HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compliant and passes HDR 10, deep color, x.v.Color, lip sync, uncompressed HDMI audio channels, Dolby TrueHD and DTS‑HD as supported by HDMI 2.0.

Will EDID and CEC be passed from source to display when using the TP-583Txr?

A: Yes — EDID and CEC signals are passed through from the source to the display to support Plug and Play operation.

What control extension does the TP-583Txr provide for serial and IR control and what ranges are supported?

A: It provides bidirectional RS‑232 extension from 300 to 115200 baud and bidirectional IR extension from 20kHz to 100kHz.

What indicators and local controls help with installation and troubleshooting?

A: The unit has IN, OUT, LINK and ON LEDs plus DIP‑switches for configuration and firmware‑related functions.

What video bandwidth and maximum data rate does the TP-583Txr support?

A: The device supports a maximum data rate of up to 18 Gbps (6 Gbps per graphic channel).

Will the TP-583Txr work with other HDBaseT extenders I already own?

A: Yes — it’s backwards compatible with standard HDBaseT extenders and will auto‑adapt to whether the connected extender supports compression or not.

Can I extend multi‑channel surround audio over the TP-583Txr link?

A: Yes — it supports up to 32 channels of digital uncompressed audio for studio‑grade surround formats.

Do I need special cables to reach the quoted distances for 4K and 1080p?

A: Kramer recommends using its high‑performance Kramer cables for optimum range and to achieve the listed extension distances.

If I need firmware updates or to debug, how can I access the TP-583Txr locally?

A: You can perform local firmware upgrades and control via the RS‑232 terminal‑block connection and use the unit’s LEDs to check link, input and output status.
