The Glyph Blackbox PRO 28TB USB-C 3.2 7200 RPM Enterprise Desktop Hard Drive is a 28TB desktop hard drive with an enterprise-class 7,200 RPM drive and a single USB-C 3.2 port, made for storing video, photo, and audio projects and backups.
The BBPR28000ENT connects over USB-C (USB 3.2, 10Gb) and is compatible with USB 3.0, USB 3.1, and Thunderbolt 3 ports. Glyph rates the Blackbox PRO family at up to 260 MB/s, so it fits editing, ingest, and archive work on one large volume.
The drive arrives formatted for macOS and is Time Machine ready, and Windows computers can use it after reformatting. A rugged removable cover and an external power adapter ship in the box.
Glyph Blackbox PRO 28TB Features
- 28TB enterprise-class capacity. The BBPR28000ENT is the 28TB model of the Blackbox PRO desktop drive. It uses an enterprise-class 7,200 RPM hard drive, built for steady daily use, so editors and data managers can keep large project libraries and archives in one place.
- Single USB-C 3.2 connection. One USB-C port (USB 3.2, 10Gb) carries data to the host. Glyph lists compatibility with USB 3.0, USB 3.1, and Thunderbolt 3 ports, so the drive works with many current computers. Data speed is limited by the port you plug into.
- Transfer speeds up to 260 MB/s. Glyph rates the Blackbox PRO family at up to 260 MB/s in its feature text and 280 MB/s in its spec table. That is hard drive speed, which suits editing proxies, ingest, and backup, but not the fastest multi-stream raw workflows.
- Fan-less aluminum heatsink shell. The aluminum shell dissipates heat from the drive without a fan. With no fan to hear, the drive stays silent in edit rooms, voice booths, and live rooms, though you should still leave space around it for airflow during long copy jobs.
- Rugged removable silicone cover. A rugged external cover protects the aluminum case from knocks and bumps while you carry the drive between sets, studios, and client sites. Take it off when the drive stays on a desk. It is not a waterproof or drop-rated enclosure.
- Both USB-C and USB-A cables included. The box holds a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable. You can connect to a modern laptop or an older USB-A port the same day, without buying an adapter, although the USB-A link runs at that port's lower speed.
- External power adapter for the full-size drive. A 28TB desktop-class drive needs more power than a USB port supplies, so the drive ships with an external international power adapter. Plan for an outlet at the workstation, because this model is not a bus-powered portable.
- Formatted for macOS with Time Machine. The drive arrives formatted for macOS and works with Time Machine out of the box. Windows computers can use it after you reformat it. Reformatting erases the drive, so do it before you copy any project media onto it.
- 3-2-1 warranty coverage. Glyph backs the drive with a 3-2-1 warranty: 3 years of full hardware coverage including cables, 2 years of Level-1 data recovery, and 1 year of advance replacement. That protects a drive that may hold the only copy of a project.
