Send Ethernet over existing coax lines in your house
More and more electronic devices require high speed Internet access. From IPTV to media centers, DVRs, BlueRay players, and game consoles etc, the biggest challenge facing consumers is how to connect these devices to the Internet. Now with MoCA technology, existing coaxial wires in the home can, in essence, be converted to an Ethernet network and deliver high speed Internet access to every connected device.
Plus, installation is a breeze. Simply plug a MoCA network adapter into your Router and to the device requiring Internet access. Most do-it-yourself consumers can complete the installation in less than 5 minutes and installation professionals no longer need to pull cables throughout the house.
Please download and read the User Configuration Guide before attempting to customize any of the settings of your device. The Windows-based configuration software is used to change the operational parameters of the device. The toggle switch located on the back of the ECB must be set to Config Mode for changes to be made. This software is ONLY for use with the Actiontec ECB2200, and is intended ONLY for use by professionals.
NOTE: The configuration software has been tested on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. However, the ECB2200 User Configuration Guide PDF provides a step-by-step installation guide only for users with Windows XP.
Disclaimer: This software is ONLY for use with the Actiontec ECB2200, and is intended ONLY for use by professionals. Actiontec Electronics will not provide a refund or replacement products for ECB2200s that have failed due to the loading of incorrect firmware, customized firmware or the improper use of the configuration software.
Will the ECB2200 work with digital cable?
Yes, the ECB2200 should work in a digital cable environment.
How many MoCA devices can I have connected in my home network?
You can have a total of 16 MoCA devices connected in your home network.
Do settings adjustments thru the configuration utility apply to all the MoCA adapters on the coax network or just single devices?
No, the utility is only able to configure one ECB at a time. You must run the configuration utility on each device so all devices have the same custom settings.
Are the different versions of the ECB devices compatible with each other and can they all be integrated to the same network?
Yes the ECB2200V (Verizon), ECB2200, and ECB2500C (**For use primarily in CABLE TV households) will operate on the same network and communicate with each other.
How long does the ECB2200 Configuration Utility save the statistics on the Advanced Tab for?
The ECB2200 saves that information for 24hrs. When switching to configuration mode the information collected previously will still be available for review.
What is the maximum distance in between devices?
The maximum distance you can have in between devices is 300ft.
Is the ECB MoCa adapter compatible with Direct-tv or Dish network?
No, this adapter is compatible with cable services but not satellite services such as Direct-Tv or Dish Network.
How can I test the MoCA adapters for functionality?
These are basic plug n play devices. Do these quick tests for functionality in order at the location of the Modem/Router.
These tests require at least 2 of the ECB/WCB adapters.
Take both adapters, connect the Ethernet cable into both adapters Ethernet ports, take the coax cable and connect it to both adapter coax in/network port, connect both adapters power supplies. You should get all 3 lights on the MoCA adapters. If you do then do the next test, if not try different Ethernet or Coax cables then return units to store for replacements if still no lights.
Connect an Ethernet cable from modem/router to first MoCA adapter then use a short coax cable between the coax in port on both adapters, then another Ethernet adapter to a laptop/desktop. Power up the adapters and your computer should have internet access.
If both the above tests pass, then the issue will either be with the cabling between the 2 locations or the settings on the modem/router or the computer.
