The Ashton Bentley Tablebox USB-C Cable Retractor Cassette is a self-winding USB-C cable retractor for the Ashton Bentley Tablebox. It gives a laptop a retractable video, charging, and data connection at the table and winds out of sight when the meeting ends.
Ashton Bentley lists the retractor (900-00490) with a passive USB-C cable that supports 4K60 4:4:4 video, 100 W of charging, USB-2, USB-3, and Gigabit network. It has an all-metal mechanism tested to 5,000 pulls and about 95 cm of usable cable.
It installs in the Tablebox, which holds one USB-C and one HDMI retractor. In Ashton Bentley tables the mechanism is hidden in the leg, and it can be retrofitted in third-party tables. It connects to an Ashton Bentley hub or extender, so check system compatibility.
Ashton Bentley USB-C Retractor Features
- Self-winding USB-C cassette. The retractor is a concealed, self-winding cassette that holds a USB-C cable inside the Tablebox. Presenters pull the connector out to the laptop and it winds back in afterward, so no loose cable is left on the table.
- Passive cable, 4K60 4:4:4 video. Ashton Bentley's 2026 table overview says the retractor's passive cable carries 4K60 4:4:4 video. That suits a laptop feeding a room display over one USB-C link, if the laptop's port supports video output over USB-C.
- Up to 100 W of laptop charging. The overview lists 100 W of charging through the cable. The Tablebox guide says up to 100 W is available with the optional BX Charging PSU, so the charging limit depends on the rest of the system.
- USB-2, USB-3, and Gigabit on one cable. The overview lists USB-2, USB-3, and Gigabit network support in the same passive cable. One connection can carry video, charging, USB peripherals, and a wired network link, subject to the hub or extender it connects to.
- All-metal mechanism tested to 5,000 pulls. The retractor uses an all-metal mechanism for reliability, and Ashton Bentley states it was tested to 5,000 pulls. That matters in boardrooms where the cable is pulled out and released many times a day.
- About 95 cm of usable cable. The table overview gives the retractor's USB-C length as 95 cm. The Ashton Bentley web page says about 1 m once fitted. Plan for a reach of roughly one meter from the Tablebox, not a full-length desk cable.
- Fits the Tablebox. The Tablebox holds either two retractors, one USB-C and one HDMI, or two plain cables. This USB-C retractor is the USB-C half of the retractor option. The HDMI retractor is a separate part and is not included.
- Hidden in the table leg. In an Ashton Bentley table the retractor mechanism and cables sit concealed in the leg beneath the Tablebox. The cassette can also be retrofitted in third-party tables, which keeps the surface clear of cable clutter.
Where the USB-C Retractor Fits
Boardrooms: Give each seat a USB-C connection that retracts out of sight when the meeting ends.
Conference and training rooms: Keep a wired laptop connection available at the table without a loose cable that can be lost or tripped over.
Retrofit installs: Add a retractable USB-C connection to a third-party table through the Tablebox, within the limits of the table's cutout and depth.

What does the Ashton Bentley USB-C Retractor do?
It is a self-winding cassette that holds a USB-C cable inside the Tablebox. You pull the connector out to a laptop and it winds back in when released, keeping the table surface clear.
Does the USB-C Retractor support 4K60 video?
Yes, according to the 2026 table overview, which says the retractor's passive cable supports 4K60 4:4:4 video. The laptop's USB-C port must also support video output, and the connected hub or extender sets the final result.
Can the 900-00490 charge a laptop?
Yes. The overview lists 100 W of charging, and the Tablebox guide says up to 100 W with the optional BX Charging PSU. Without that PSU, check the charging power your system allows.
What data does the retractor cable carry?
It carries USB-2, USB-3, and Gigabit network, plus video and charging, per the table overview. The Ashton Bentley web page lists a more conservative 480 Mbps data rating, so confirm your use case before relying on high-speed data.
How long is the cable when pulled out?
About 95 cm per the table overview, or about 1 m once fitted per the web page. It is not a full-length cable. For longer reach, Ashton Bentley offers a separate 2.5 m locking USB-C cable for the Tablebox.
How durable is the mechanism?
It is an all-metal mechanism that Ashton Bentley states was tested to 5,000 pulls. That figure comes from the 2026 table overview. The company does not state a lifetime beyond that.
Does it fit in the Tablebox?
Yes. The Tablebox accepts one USB-C and one HDMI retractor, or one USB-C and one HDMI cable. This part is the USB-C retractor. The HDMI retractor is a separate item.
Is the USB-C Retractor the same as the Tablebox?
No. The Tablebox (900-00491) is the enclosure, and the retractor (900-00490) is the cassette that goes into it. Check that you also have the Tablebox and a compatible Ashton Bentley hub or extender.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes. Ashton Bentley's warranty agreement gives 3 years of standard cover. For terms or a claim, call 833-WOLFPACK (833-965-3722) and our team will help you.
Can I use it in a table that is not made by Ashton Bentley?
Yes, in principle. Ashton Bentley says the retractors can be retrofitted in third-party tables, within the cutout limits. Confirm your table's cutout and depth with our team before ordering.
