16x16 4K60 HDMI Matrix Switch Over CAT6 – Build Your System

The 16x16 4K60 HDMI Matrix Switch Over CAT6 allows you to route up to 16 HDMI sources to 16 displays independently using standard CAT6 network cable. This modular matrix switch uses HDBaseT technology to extend HDMI signals up to 220 feet while supporting 4K 60Hz resolution, HDR, audio, IR control, and RS-232 control.

These systems are commonly used in sports bars, casinos, digital signage networks, command centers, and conference rooms where multiple displays need flexible video routing from multiple sources.

How a 4K HDMI Matrix Over CAT6 Works

Instead of running long HDMI cables, this system converts HDMI signals to HDBaseT and sends them over CAT6 cable to receivers at each display.

Typical signal flow:

Source Devices → Matrix Switch → HDBaseT Transmitters → CAT6 Cable → Receivers → Displays

This architecture allows reliable 4K video distribution across large spaces such as sports bars or commercial buildings.

Common Applications

Sports Bars and Restaurants

Sports bars often require dozens of televisions showing different games simultaneously. A 16x16 HDMI matrix allows cable boxes, satellite receivers, Apple TVs, or streaming devices to be routed to any TV instantly.

Digital Signage Networks

Retail stores, airports, and corporate offices use HDMI matrix systems to distribute content to multiple displays throughout a facility.

Conference Rooms and Corporate AV

Companies frequently use matrix switches to route laptops, video conferencing systems, and presentation PCs to displays or projectors in multiple meeting rooms.

Casinos and Control Rooms

Large operations centers often use matrix switching to distribute surveillance feeds, dashboards, and broadcast content across video walls or monitoring displays.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 16x16 HDMI matrix switch?

A 16x16 HDMI matrix switch allows any of 16 HDMI sources to be routed to any of 16 displays independently.

How far can HDMI travel over CAT6?

Using HDBaseT technology, HDMI signals can travel up to 220 feet over CAT6 cable while maintaining 4K video quality.

What is the difference between an HDMI matrix and an HDMI splitter?

An HDMI splitter sends one source to multiple displays. An HDMI matrix allows multiple sources to be routed to multiple displays independently.

Do I need transmitters and receivers?

Yes. HDMI signals are converted to HDBaseT using transmitters and then converted back to HDMI at the receiver connected to each display.

Can this matrix support video walls?

Some configurations support video wall processing depending on the installed input and output cards.
