WolfPack HDMI Switchers HDTV Supplys WolfPack™ 9x18 HDMI Matrix Switch with 9-Separate HDMI Baluns routes HDMI high definition audio/video from any of eight HDMI sources to any of 9 displays over CAT6/7cables. Because it is a matrix switcher, it allows any input to be routed to any output; or the same input to be routed to all outputs, or any combination. This 18x18 HDMI Matrix Switcher has optional Crestron, URC, Elan & Control4 Drivers. It also has 9-output EDIDs & 15 internal EDIDs background to support error free installation.

The 9x18 HDMI Matrix Switch over CAT6 design bundle is for applications that that can not afford a $8,000 true 9x18 HDMI matrix switch and can live with connecting the HDMI loopout of an HDMI Transmitter output to another HDMI Transmitter on each output. Each of the 9 HDMI outputs will go into the supplied 18-Transmitters over CAT6 giving you a 9x18 HDMI matrix Router with the audio and video being the same on on each HDMI output CAT6 outputs. Think of it as a 9x18.

9x18 (9x9x2) HDMI Matrix Switcher Contents:

  • 1 - 9x9 matrix with female HDMI inputs and outputs
  • 18 - Separate 1080 HDMI extenders with an HDMI loopout on each of the TXs
  • 18 - AC adapters connected to the TXs (not RXs) and at the matrix
  • The 1080p HDMI loop out from the first transmitter will go to another TX showing the same picture on 2-TVs.
  • You will need 9x2 = 18 HDMI cables for the cascaded HDMI extenders at the matrix
  • This is not a true 9x18 matrix as each of the HDMI matrix outputs goes to 2-TVs with both of them showing the same picture
  • The 2-TVs should have the same TV resolution, like 1080p. Don't mix resolutions as this is a 1080p system

EXAMPLE: If you want to switch input 8 to output 1, 2, and 5 the RS232 command would be 8x1&2&5. and notice the command has a period (.) at the end of the string. The matrix even replies "OK" when the right command is received and shows "ERR" when receiving a wrong command.

END USER: If you are an end user and want to have a whole-house control system from any of the above 3rd party control houses but your budget can't support the price you were quoted, do the following:

  1. Call us for a quote
  2. Once you get our quote call a 3rd party control reseller or installer in your area and tell them "Here is the hardware I want to use, please give me a quote on writing the software and installing all of the hardware at my location." You usually can save $1,000s on larger systems.
CAVEAT: We are not certified by any of the above 3rd party control systems companies nor have the necessary hardware to verify, troubleshoot and support the 3rd party writing of the code. We do warranty, though, that the RS232 script in the above RS232 Users Manual has and will work to control the matrix directly.

Q: How does the EDID learning function work?
A: The EDID learning function is only necessary whenever you encounter any display on the HDMI output port that cannot play audio and video properly. Because the HDMI source devices and displays may have various level of capability in playing audio and video, the general principle is that the source device will output the lowest standards in audio format and video resolutions to be commonly acceptable among all HDMI displays.

In this case, a 720p stereo HDMI signal output would be probably the safest choice. Nevertheless, the user can force the matrix to learn the EDID of the lowest capable HDMI display among others to make sure all displays are capable to play the HDMI signals normally.
