This ATI Video Card (analog DVI-I) to Component adapter provides a big screen experience from your PC that has an analog ATI video card that is ideal for gaming, surfing the internet, watching DVDs and more. Watch TV, play video games, watch DVDs, and even surf the net with your ATV video card!

This adapter is designed with an ATI chipset and works with ATI ONLY graphics cards that output TV compatible (sync-on-green) signals.

This ATI analog video card to Component adapter provides the highest quality, lowest cost method to deliver component output to your HDTV or component video display. With both progressive and interlaced formats supported in 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i, you can get a sharp image on any component video display.

ATI Video Card to Component Adapter Features:

  • Delivers component video (Y-Pb-Pr) output to a High Definition TV from an ATI video card.
  • Watch TV, play DVDs, surf the internet on your HDTV from your PC with an ATI video card.
  • Supports 480i (interlaced), 480p (progressive), 720p and 1080i formats.
  • Works only with DVI analog component input devices, not DVI-D devices like a DVD player, satellite or cable box, etc.
This ATI DVI-I Video Card to Component adapter connects a computers DVI-I output from an ATI video card to analog Component Video Input Devices, such as HDTV's and projectors.

This adapter has a male analog DVI connector on one end and three RCA connectors on the other end (for component analog video).

The ATI DVI-I to Component Video Adapter will enable component output from your PC using ONLY the following analog ATI video cards:

  • ATI RADEON 9800 Series
  • ATI RADEON 9700 Series
  • ATI RADEON 9600 Series
  • ATI RADEON 9500 Series
  • ATI RADEON 8500 Series
  • ATI RADEON 8500LE Series
  • ATI ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 9800 Series
  • ATI ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 9700 Series
  • ATI ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 9600 Series
  • ATI ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 8500
  • ATI ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 8500DV

Here is a example installation guide for this DVI to Component Video Adapter for an ATI video card:

Setting the DIP Switches:

1. Set switch 3 to OFF as 540p is not supported.

2. Set ALL DIP switches to ON that correspond to the modes that your Component Input Device supports. Please consult your Component Input Device manuals for more details.

3. For example, if your Component Input Device supports 480i, 720p and 1080i, set switches 1, 4 and 5 to ON (see below).

4. Aspect Ratio: If your Component Input Device also supports 16:9 Aspect Ratio, set switch 6 to ON. When switch 6 is set to OFF, the Aspect Ratio supported is 4:3.

HOW TO MAKE IT WORK EXAMPLE:

  • Make sure you have installed (or downloaded) the necessary driver(s) for your ATI DVI video card before installing the adapter.
  • After installing the driver(s), turn off your computer and disconnect the monitor.
  • Set the DIP switches on the DVI-I to Component adapter to match the HDTV video modes (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i).
  • Connect the DVI end of the adapter to the DVI port on your PC or Laptop computer that has the above ATI video card. Connect the component cables to the other end of the adapter to the HDTV or other Component Input Device.
  • Then go to the Widows Control Panel to select the mode and screen resolution that provide the best result.
System requirements:
  • Intel Pentium 4/III/II, Celeron, AMD Athlon or higher
  • Available VGA/DVI-I video port
  • Sound card and speakers
  • Operating System Support: Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows 98/98SE
  • PC with an ATI video card only (see above)
*NOTE 1: This DVI to Component adapter has only been tested with the above ATI video cards and may or may not work with other video cards. There are no trial programs and all sales are final.

NOTE 2: This analog DVI to component adapter is not for any home theater components such as DVD players, cable or satellite set top boxes and does not convert analog component outputs to DVI. It's use is for analog output video card PC's only as the above example indicates.

NOTE 3: The above pictures show the front and back of the DVI to Component adapter.

NOTE 4: The DVI to Component adapter cannot be used in reverse. The input comes from the ATI video cards DVI connector and the red - green - blue component output goes to your HDTV.

NOTE 5: Wiring (2) two back to back DVI to Component adapters does not work.

NOTE 6: The device does not work with MACINTOSH computers.

NOTE 7: Please do not confuse the ALL-IN-WONDER Radeon 8500 with the "RADEON 8500" adapter. This adapter is not for use with other graphics boards from the ATI RADEON(tm) product family.

DVI-I to Component Adapter Installations:

1. Make sure you have installed (or downloaded) the necessary driver(s) for your ATI DVI video card before installing the adapter.

2. After installing the driver(s), turn off your computer and disconnect the monitor.

4. Connect the DVI end of the adapter to the DVI port on your PC or Laptop computer.

Tips on using this ATI to HDTV Adapter:

  1. Go to www.ati.com and get the latest catalyst drivers.
  2. Make sure you have microsoft.net installed or catalyst will not run.
  3. Then run catalyst and it will have a component settings which has 720p and 1080i settings.
  4. If you don't like the catalyst drivers, Google Powerstrip which works good but not as friendly as ATI.
