A flat HDMI cable has several advantages. One is that it can go behind wall molding along the floor (you could put it under a rug too, but don't put it where there is a lot of foot traffic).
Tip: It's always a good practice when using long cables that are installed in walls to test your HDMI chain out first by laying the flat HDMI cable on the ground and plugging it into you source device and HDTV before installing it. The flat HDMI cable audio section is compliant with the following audio standards:

*Dolby® TrueHD can support more than eight audio channels. HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc standards currently limit their maximum number of audio channels to eight.
The equipment you connect to this flat HDMI cable, though, must be capable of decoding these audio protocols.
The flat HDMI cable is HDCP compatible; however, you must verify your source and destination devices support (or don't support) HDCP encryption. Essentially, HDCP compliant devices will only transmit to or receive from other devices with HDCP coding. This flat HDMI cable will also work if neither device is HDCP compatible.
These flat HDMI cables have a CL2 rating which comes from Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The above HDMI 1.3b specs do not apply to HDMI / DVI to DVI cables (there is no equivalent spec) but the cables are made in the same assembly line with the only change being the connectors.
(*) NOTE TO PS3 USERS: All Sony Playstation 3's have its default settings set not to HDMI so you should manually change the default AV setting to HDMI before connecting to an HDTV. Please make sure to reboot your PS3 system after the default setting has been changed to HDMI. Also, change the HDTV's default AV source to HDMI before connecting it to PS3.
