This 4X2 HDMI matrix switch lets you switch between 4 HDMI sources and send any 2 of those inputs to 2 independent outputs. The unit is well built and it ships with a remote control. Compare it with other HDMI matrix switchers and you'll find their prices are hundreds more.
The 4-in, 2-out HDMI matrix switch switches HDMI signals in any of 16 combination's. Because it is a matrix switcher, it allows any input to be routed to any output; or the same input to be routed to all outputs, or any combination.
EXAMPLE: Watch a DVD in your den while someone else simultaneously watches high definition cable or satellite in the bedroom. Both the DVD player and the high definition receiver are in the den.

How the 4 x 2 HDMI Matrix Switch Works: You simply connect the 4 sources to the Matrix switcher inputs. Then connect 2 displays to the Matrix switcher outputs. Once the sources, the matrix and the displays are powered and connected, you simply select which sources you want to view on which displays using the IR remote.
The HDMI 1.3 & above compliancy allow these features:
Higher speed: HDMI 1.3 increases its single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps) to support the demands of future HD display devices, such as higher resolutions, Deep Color and high frame rates. In addition, built into the HDMI 1.3 specification is the technical foundation that will let future versions of HDMI reach significantly higher speeds.
Deep Color: HDMI 1.3 supports 10-bit, 12-bit and 16-bit (RGB or Y-Cb-Cr) color depths, up from the 8-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification, for stunning rendering of over one billion colors in unprecedented detail.
Broader color space: HDMI 1.3 adds support for “x.v.Color” (which is the consumer name describing the IEC 61966-2-4 xvYCC color standard), which removes current color space limitations and enables the display of any color viewable by the human eye.
New mini connector: With small portable devices such as HD camcorders and still cameras demanding seamless connectivity to HDTVs, HDMI 1.3 offers a new, smaller form factor connector option.
Lip Sync: Because consumer electronics devices are using increasingly complex digital signal processing to enhance the clarity and detail of the content, synchronization of video and audio in user devices has become a greater challenge and could potentially require complex end-user adjustments. HDMI 1.3 incorporates automatic audio synching capabilities that allows devices to perform this synchronization automatically with total accuracy.
New HD lossless audio formats: In addition to HDMI’s current ability to support high-bandwidth uncompressed digital audio and all currently-available compressed formats (such as Dolby® Digital and DTS), HDMI 1.3 adds additional support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
The audio portion of this HDMI switcher is compliant with the following audio standards:
Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital Plus
Dolby TrueHD
DTS
DTS-HD
This HDMI switcher is HDCP Compliant. HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection) is a standard encoded into the video signal to prevent it from being pirated. If a source device is HDCP coded and is connected to a HDMI display or projector without the proper HDCP decoding mechanism, the picture is relegated to snow or in some cases, very low (480p) resolutions of the images.
Multi-channel digital audio and high definition video are fed to the display by each source (shown below), when selected. Users have the option of switching sources using front panel buttons or the IR remote that comes with the unit.
TIPS TO INSTALL THIS HDMI MATRIX SWITCH:
Unplug all devices that plug into the unit including the above HDMI switcher.
Install only one device and one HDTV. Turn them ON.
Wait up to 15 seconds to allow the first install to grab the HDCP handshake.
If you don't get a picture move the HDMI cable to another input until you do waiting 15 seconds.
If you still don't get a picture, move the output HDMI cable to another output.
Add the 2nd device using the above tips.
In order to see HDTV with HDCP compliance, both the source, the cable, the display and any device in between must be equipped with HDMI connections that can enable HDCP decoding, such as this 1080p HDMI matrix switcher, or you will not see a picture.
The older the HDMI gear the more handshaking problems are likely. Cable boxes are among the worst. Powering off the switcher usually helps. Make certain not to send a video signal to a display which is out of range like 1080p signal to a 720p projector.
The remotes A and B buttons cycle the respective outputs through the connected inputs. See the above picture.
