Operation: To hear your optical devices through your home theater system, turn on your home theater system and the audio source you want to hear. Then, press in the lock release button on the Digital Audio Optical Switch dial and rotate the dial to the indicator corresponding with the source you want (1,2, or 3). TIP: All optical cables come with a protective cap on each end of the cable to prevent damage to the small optical pin. This Digital Audio Optical Switch lets you connect up to 3 different optical digital components to a component with only one digital audio optical input. Its construction provides optimum light signal transfer for high quality recording and playback. This is a round Digital Audio Optical Switch which allows you to connect up to three units with a digital optical jack and route any one of the three to a source unit with a digital optical jack. There are four optical digital jacks. One jack is connected to the unit to which you want to add more optical jacks to (normally a digital receiver). The other three jacks are connected to the units which you want to connect to the other unit. Switch easily between sources instead of disconnecting and reconnecting cables when needing to change inputs. You manually select which of the three units you want to select (only one can be selected at a time) with a dial on the top of the unit and pressing the button down on the switch. A painted marker shows which of the three units is selected. The compact design will fit in tight areas between components. The equipment you connect to this Digital Audio Optical Switch, though, must be capable of decoding these audio protocols. The Digital Audio Optical Switch also can work backwards i.e. switch one optical input to 3 switched outputs. The 3 outputs need to be switched as they are not mirrored and one input cannot go to all three outputs simultaneously.
