This 4X4 HDMI Matrix Switcher w/User Adjustable EDID Learning is a true matrix switcher and allows any of 4 inputs to be routed to any of 4 outputs; or the same input to be routed to all outputs, or any combination. The size of the matrix is only 1U high & rack mount ears are included. The 4-inputs and 4-outputs are female HDMI connectors as the above picture shows.
What sets the 4X4 HDMI matrix switch apart for our competitors:
4x4 HDMI Matrix Switcher Features:
The 4X4 HDMI Matrix Switch with User Adjustable EDID has 8 standard HDMI inputs and 8 standard HDMI outputs. An Intelligent EDID learning function is added to increase its compatibility to any HDTV, unlike cheaper units that you have to guess their compatibility. Intelligent EDID learning is only found in professional HDMI switchers and never less than $2,500, as this costs.
Control of this switcher can be managed via its front-panel control, IR remote control, RS-232, or our optional RS-232 to Ethernet Converter. The RS-232 to Ethernet Converter allows control of the unit from anywhere in the world given you know how to write RS-232 code and have the correct serial Ethernet hardware. The 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switchers RS-232 control allows the switcher to also be controlled by 3rd party control systems like Crestron, AMX and Control4, or any computerized software/hardware control systems.
NOTE: 24AWG or thicker (lower AWG number) HDMI cables are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for best performance. Some devices will require thicker gauge, category 2 cables to work with this switch. For runs up to 15ft, use 24AWG. For runs of 20ft or more, use 22AWG HDMI cables (which is thicker than 24AWG.)

We not only test this 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switcher with lab equipment we also test many of our 3D devices with 3D products you are likely to use. The products used for the test are:
Q: I've made EDID changes but don't see an affect.
A: When you make changes to the EDID, you need to either power cycle the display or change the inputs. This forces the display to relock onto the source.
Q: Would I be able to used an HDMI connection for audio only going to my audio receiver. This way I could get True HD Audio. Will this output work how I am describing?
A: Yes, provided you do not turn On a display device that might be connected to the Output of your audio receiver. Some older displays do not have the ability to decode anything other than 2 channel stereo and when connected to a receiver via HDMI.
Q: I have a PC with HDMI out, how do I set it up?
A: When your computer boots up, it looks for an EDID (extended display identification data) from the display to tell it what monitor is connected and what resolution to output. During boot up of the computer you should have ONLY one output selected to one input at a time so that the computer gets the EDID of the display that is selected. If you have multiple outputs selected to one computer, the computer will read the EDID of the last output selected to it. If all your displays are the same, or all displays are capable of running at the same resolution then this step does not matter.
Q: This product has CEC, what is CEC?
A: This product features CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) allowing your HDTV's remote to manage up to ten devices that are connected via HDMI (such as Blu-ray Disc players or home theater receivers) with no special programming needed. For example, you can use your remote to turn on your TV, your player, and your receiver at the same time, and adjust the system volume with one button. All devices must support CEC, though. Most major TV manufacturers now support CEC, and an HDTV with HDMI 1.3 will likely have the technology. Manufacturers call it by different names; LG Electronics, for instance, calls its implementation SimpleLink, whereas Toshiba calls its version CE-Link. Interoperability isn't mandatory, so some manufacturers limit control to their own products; Sony, for one, allows only Sony-to-Sony communication.
