This is a 4X16 HDMI Matrix Switcher over both HDMI & CAT5 / CAT6 Outs. The 8 - outputs are mirrored STP/UTP and HDMI allowing this 4X8X2 matrix switcher to extend to 16 outputs. Because it is a matrix switcher, it allows any input to be routed to any output; or the same input to be routed to all outputs, or any combination. Its CAT5 to HDMI receivers are un-bundled and optional and you must use HDMI output cables if you don't buy them.

NOTE: If both the HDBaseT CAT5/6 and the standard HDMI outputs are used, the number of total outputs would be up to 8. Each individual zone (example, VIDEO OUT 1) of the CAT5 and HDMI output would have the same picture, though. Think of it as a 4X8X2. Since the matrix switch also has 8-female HDMI outputs you can use these with the above optional stand alone HDMI extenders and have separate extended warranties if you have more long distances to where your widescreens are located at.

4X16 HDMI Matrix Switcher Features:

  • 4 HDMI inputs
  • 8 HDMI outputs
  • Supports both HDMI audio and HDMI video
  • 8 - UTP CAT5 type outputs used with only the above "optional" CAT5 to HDMI receivers or wall plates
  • The 8 zone outputs are mirrored STP/UTP and HDMI
  • Can extend the HDMI signal up to ~100 feet
  • HDMI V1.3b compliant
  • 4 - IR emitters are supplied to control the 4 sources, the IR control is the routing type
  • Multi-control methods, manual, IR on front panel, IR on rear extension, IR via UTP from sink and RS232
  • Key locking to avoid accidental operation
  • Supports 1080p HDMI 1.3 TV's at 24/30/60/100/200/240 Hz and above as well as HDMI 1.3 Blu-ray DVD players at 24 FPS
  • 19" standard mounting enclosure, 1U size
  • It supports HDMI signal via UTP cable transmission.
  • User Adjustable EDID self studying function. Please refer to the user manual that is on the CD that comes with your devices.
  • Includes universal AC adapters rated at 100-240V 50/60Hz with 2 prong connector
An User Adjustable EDID learning function is added to increase its capability of compatible. User Adjustable EDID learning is only found in professional HDMI switchers and never less than $2,000, as this costs.

NOTE: This 4 in 16 out HDMI Matrix Switcher over 2 - CAT5 / CAT6 outs needs an HDMI receiver at each output and must be purchased above. The CAT5 type outputs can be used with only the above CAT5 to HDMI receivers. Other HDMI receivers CANNOT be used as the chip sets must match.

This 4 in 8 out HDMI Matrix Switcher has 8 - UTP/STP and 8 - HDMI outputs. If both the UTP and standard HDMI outputs are fully used, the number of total outputs can be up to 16...8 HDMI outputs and 8 - CAT5 outputs. This 4X16 HDMI Matrix Switcher integrates the HDMI signal, IR control, TCP/IP and RS485 all together. The outputs are mirrored STP/UTP and HDMI and the UTP CAT5 type outputs used with only the above CAT5 to HDMI receivers. Other HDMI receivers CANNOT be used as the chip sets must match. Also, HDMI cables do not come with the receivers as we do not know the length you would need.

This 4X16 HDMI Matrix Switcher is sufficient to manage a small home theater system, which will deliver the HD video and audio to eight locations. The RS232 control allows the switcher to be controlled by 3rd party control systems like Crestron, AMX and Control4, or any computerized software/hardware control systems.

LAN Operation: There is a button 'set IP' on the user interface of the RS232 control software. The user can set the matrix in a static IP mode or an auto IP mode.

While using UTP type cable to connect the sink, the user can remote control the matrix itself or the source from the sink side via an IR receiver. The function of the IR control is also based on the routing function. So that you can configure the system much easier than using simple point to point IR connection. To have a secured normal HDMI cable connection, a mounting nut is added on each standard HDMI output port for fixing the cable.

This 4X8 HDMI Matrix Switcher needs only 2 - UTP CAT5 or CAT6 cables when using the above single UTP receivers. A large scale HDMI network via minimum UTP cables can be built.

User Adjustable Extended Display Identification (EDID) Data is a VESA standard data format that contains basic information about a HDTV and its capabilities, including vendor information, maximum image size, color characteristics, factory pre-set timings, frequency range limits, and character strings for the monitor name and serial number.

The information is stored in the display and is used to communicate with the system through a Display Data Channel (DDC), which sites between the monitor and the source device. The system uses this information for configuration purposes, so the HDTV and system can work together. Please refer to the user manual that is on the CD that comes with your devices.

Why not buy this 4X16 HDMI Matrix Switcher today?

KeyLock mode: If there is no key pressed for one minute, the matrix will enter the KeyLock mode. Just press KeyLock button to remove the KeyLock status so that you can use the front panel key button to control the matrix. We designed this function to avoid an accidental front panel key pressing to change the matrix route status.

Since it is high definition video we only recommend CAT5/6 cables with specs like our CAT-5 /6 cables either bought from us or another high quality supplier. We also recommend, if possible, pre-made cables that are factory tested vs. field made cables due to the advanced testing methods used.

UTP to HDMI Receiver Specs:

  • Standalone or wall plate configuration - see below pictures
  • Uses 2 - STP/UTP LAN cables (Cat5E/6) to substitute for an HDMI cable to achieve long range transmission.
  • UTP cable termination follows the standard of IEEE-568B.
  • Transmission distance reaches up to 50 meters under the video format of 1080p.
  • Auto-adjustment of feedback, equalization and amplify, the user does not need to care about the length of the cable.
  • HDMI V1.3b supported.
  • Signaling rates up to 2.25Gbits in support of 1080P display.
  • Each port supports HDMI or DVI inputs.
  • HDCP compliant.
  • With LED indicators to show the power and video signal status.
  • With ESD protection inside.
  • Mounting ears supplied.
  • Transfer Infrared control signal together with the HDMI signal.
  • User Adjustable EDID setting function, to ensure the best compatibility. Please refer to the user manual that is on the CD that comes with your devices.
  • Could be cascaded - Call
  • One year parts and labor warranty
  • Includes universal AC adapters rated at 100-240V 50/60Hz with 2 prong connector
NOTE: We recommend strongly that you use good CAT5 / 6 cables with any CAT5 / 6 converting products like this one. Most of our "no picture" support calls are due to poor quality and cheap or poorly made cables.

Q: Will the Remote IR work with all remote controls?
A:
The IR repeater works well with single band remotes but may not work with multi-band remotes used on a few satellite boxes. Look for 2 emitters on the nose of the remote. If you are pre-wiring make sure to run a 3rd cat5 cable so you can add an IR system that can handle multi-band remotes. If you have multi-band remotes you might want to upgrade your remotes to UHF, which goes through walls. This will bypass the IR system completely on the matrix.
