Why not buy this HD-SDI Repeater today?
A: The HD and SD portion of the HD-SDI Repeater supports all 8 channels of audio of the SDI standards. Both the HD and SD serial interfaces provide for 16 channels of embedded audio. The two interfaces use different audio encapsulation methods – SD uses the SMPTE 272M standard, whereas HD uses the SMPTE 299M standard. In either case, an SDI signal may contain up to sixteen audio channels (8 pairs in two groups, A and B) embedded 48 kHz, 24-bit audio channels along with the video.
Typically, 48 kHz, 24-bit (20-bit in SD, but extendable to 24 bit) PCM audio is stored, in a manner directly compatible with the AES3 digital audio interface. These are placed in the (horizontal) blanking periods, when the SDI signal carries nothing useful, since the receiver generates its own blanking signals from the TRS.
Q: What do you recommend for the best cable for this HD-SDI Repeater?
A: Start with good cabling. To send HD video you must use a coaxial cable with Bandwidth at least 1.5G and to send Full HD video must use coaxial cable with bandwidth at least 3G. The link cable recommended to use a high quality Coaxial Cable & BNC connector if you use a low quality coaxial cable it may case signal loss and affect the transmission distance and reliability.
BNC coax cables and connectors are not all made to the same standard. From the thickness and grade of the center conductor to the type of dielectric, all these factors contribute to impedance, attenuation and Return Loss. Serial Digital Video coax like Belden 1694A is a good example of broadcast quality SDI cable. A 75 Ohm impedance must be maintained throughout the HDMI to HD-SDI Converter signal or cable path including BNC connectors etc.
