This Voltage Blocker blocks any DC voltage that many cable and satellite receivers emit causing non-compatibility issues with devices they are plugged in to matrix switchers or HDTV's. The Voltage Blocker is a 5 channel Component DC isolation unit that eliminates DC offsets in the video or audio that can cause hum bar interference.

The Rogers cable boxes from Canada put out a DC signal on all RCA outputs that shouldn't be there. This Component DC Voltage Blocker blocks that DC making sure you get a perfect picture without rolling bars and audio hum.

Voltage Blocker Features:

  • 1-in, 1-out passive DC blocker
  • Support component video and audio
  • Eliminates annoying humbars
  • Compatible with HD distribution amplifiers
  • Easy to use HDTV module
  • Up to three video channels may be used for three individuals composite video signals, if desired
  • Eliminates issues from excess DC voltage
  • Audio protection

Q: Does this block the DC coming from sat and cable boxes>
This is not an uncommon thing. From what we have found, most satellite and cable receivers have DC voltage on their component outputs. The levels vary and I also don闂佺懓澧庡▓鐎恑nk it is intentional. We work in mostly retail environments and discovered this to be a problem back in 2007 due to an issue that a store was having in Canada. We traveled to this location and found that they were using Motorola set top boxes that had significant DC voltage on the video output, which caused a grey/black hum bar to roll up their screens.

As a result of our findings at that location, we have designed this device to go on the component output of a set top box to block all DC that may be coming out of it. We decided on a stand-alone piece that can be used with any device as opposed to re-designing out distribution amplifiers, to include DC voltage blocking. So to answer your question, no our component equipment doesn闂佺懓澧庡▍鐕紇e internal DC voltage blocking, but we have a product that works in conjunction with them to achieve it. The reality of it is that it can damage all kinds of devices as well as cause distortions in the video signals. Component video is strictly AC and should have 0 VDC on it.
