This a customer service page to prevent you buying an HDMI to SDI Cable and getting ripped off as they cannot work. This HDMI to SDI Cable does not work and there is no cable that will convert HDMI to SDI. HDMI is a parallel digital signal interface while SDI signals are serial and you will need an electronic converter device.

If you need to convert an HDMI signal to SDI via an coax cable see our HDMI to SDI Converter.

HDMI is a parallel digital (1's and 0's) signal while SDI is a serial signal and a passive cable cannot convert digital signal into DI as a cable is a passive device made up of wire, solder and 2 connectors. The HDMI digital signal sent through 19 digital lines in the HDMI cable and delivered via the HDMI connector cannot be used by any SDI signal input lines.

This HDMI to SDI Cable doesn't work because:

  1. HDMI has 19 pins whereas SDI has only a center conductor and a shield so an HDMI to SDI Cable won't work.
  2. HDMI has the HDCP copy protection signal whereas there is no SDI equivalent so a HDMI to SDI Cable won't work.
  3. A cable is a passive device made up of 2 connectors, solder and wires. It cannot convert one signal type into another so a HDMI to SDI Cable won't work.

This HDMI to SDI Cable does not work and there is no such thing so don't get ripped off and buy one!
