The WOLFPACK™ 4x4 HDMI Matrix with simultaneous CAT and HDMI outputs connects four HDMI sources to eight displays. This matrix features four HDMI outputs and each HDMI output is mirrored to provide a CAT-Cable output which runs simultaneously. Connect a single UTP Receiver to each of the CAT-Cable outputs to extend the HDMI signal up to 150 feet for multi-room connectivity. It works with Blu-Ray players, Set-Top boxes, Home Theater PCs, and game consoles that connect to an HDMI display. Any source is accessible at all times by any display by selecting it via the supplied IR Remote Control, RS-232, TCP/IP or by using the selection buttons on the front panel. Q: I do not have a CD player to use the mini cd of the software that came with the matrix. I downloaded the software from the website It does not appear that the device is gettig an IP address on my local network. I can statically assign my computer to a 192.168.1.x ip address and then connect using the provided software to the device on a default IP address of 192.168.1.10 but there is not a way to configure the device to use DHCP to get the network configuration.
A: It seems this client is using a router in its network, please ask him firstly assign its router DHCP to 192.168.1.1, then set its computer to any ip address (such as 192.168.1.123) differ from 192.168.1.10 - Then it should solve his problem.

Q: What is the IR frequency of this matrix?
A: The remote control has an industry standard IR frequency of 38KHz but the matrix itself supports 38KHz to 56KHz.

Q: Please explain the IR connectors.
A: On the Switch:

IR outs: Sends IR to the source devices
IR ins: Sends signal to TV

On the HDMI Extenders:

IR Out: Would be used if you were sending a signal from the matrix
IR In: The IR signal sent back to the switch

Q: How can I control the matrix from the HDMI outs, not CAT6 outs, in faraway rooms?
A: Use 3rd party RF remote controls as remote IR, via HDMI cabling, is not supported on the HDMI outs, only the CATx wiring.

Q: This product has CEC, what is CEC?
A: This product features CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) allowing your HDTV's remote to manage up to ten devices that are connected via HDMI (such as Blu-ray Disc players or home theater receivers) with no special programming needed. For example, you can use your remote to turn on your TV, your player, and your receiver at the same time, and adjust the system volume with one button. All devices must support CEC, though.

Most major TV manufacturers now support CEC, and an HDTV with HDMI 1.3 will likely have the technology. Manufacturers call it by different names; LG Electronics, for instance, calls its implementation SimpleLink, whereas Toshiba calls its version CE-Link. Interoperability isn't mandatory, so some manufacturers limit control to their own products; Sony, for one, allows only Sony-to-Sony communication.
