This HDMI To DisplayPort Converter converts an HDMI / DVI / Mini DVI signal into a standard DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort signal.

With this HDMI To DisplayPort Converter you can plug in an HDMI source and get video and sound on the iMac's 27" display and by pressing (command F2) will switch between the Apple and HDMI source device.

The HDMI To DisplayPort Converter connects different source devices to DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort Displays by using the provided conversion cables. The HDMI To DisplayPort Converter supports high resolution max up to 1920x1200. The HDMI To DisplayPort Converter supports HDMI uncompressed 2 channel audio such as LPCM, and supports DVI / Mini DVI resolutions of up to 1920x1200, compatible HDMI 1.3b, DVI/Mini DVI 1.0 Input.

The EDID from the Apple iMac 27" shows that the display only allows 2 resolution input support which is 2560x960 and 1280x720. By setting your HDMI source to 720p or 1280x720 resolution you will be able to output your content through this converter.

NOTE: 1080p devices like PS3s, Xbox 360 Elite, Blu-Ray players, etc need to be set to a 720p output.

Hooking the product up is a snap. Plug in the power supply, set your source to 720p, turn everything on, and then attach the adapter to your 27" iMac. (This product only works if the DisplayPort can handle both input and output, which is currently supported only in the 27" iMac model.)

Once everything is connected, your screen will go blank for a moment or two and then show your new source. You can also keep everything hooked up and switch between your external source and the iMac's internals by hitting Command-F2. If the display is an Apple iMac 27'' the resolution of sources must be fixed on 1280x720. If the display is an Apple 24'', resolution of sources must be set on 1920x1200.

The HDMI to DisplayPort Converter is easy to connect and operate. The first step is providing power to the Converter; then connect source device to the converter input; the last step is connect the converter output to the display.
