HDTV Supplys HDMI Extender Over Coax extends an HDMI video and stereo audio signal over a signal point-to-point coax cable upwards of 1,500 feet with RG6 home run cabling. This HDMI Extender Over Coax allows transmissions of high definition HDMI signal over standard 75ohm coaxial cable. The HDMI Extender Over Coax allows the capability to split to multiple receivers, or combine multiple transmitters set to different channels, using simple CATV splitters and combiners.

The HDMI Extender Over Coax adopts our RF modulation technology to transmit the one or more RF signal through one common coaxial cable (we recommend SYV-75/RG59) for long distance transmission without the need of an amp. The receiver can restore the high-definition video signal and transmit it to the TV or monitor that must have an HDMI input. This HDMI Extender Over Coax works well to TURN THE COAX CABLE into HDMI CABLE. That's the primary purpose of this extender, to extend the full HDMI signal over a single home run coax cable, of which the benefits of are huge. Can you imagine schools having to change out all of their coax to allow HDMI signals?

NOTE 1: The HDMI transmitter is very powerful so it can be part of the combo to got 1,500 feet. If your distance from your source device(s) are 300 feet, or less, to the passive coax splitter you will need the above 10dB attenuator on each transmitter coax cable. If you need more info, call us.

By adding DTV network mixers attached in line with the RF cable you can achieve many different kinds of transmission modes like:
  1. Many-To-One or an HDMI switcher operating over 1,500 feet. For example you could configure a 50x1 HDMI switcher.
  2. One-To-Many similar to an HDMI splitter operating over 1,500 feet. For example you could configure a 1x25 HDMI splitter or one PC going to 25 widescreens up to 1,500 feet away.
  3. Many-To Many Similar to an HDMI Matrix switch operating over 1,500 feet. For example you could configure a 12x16 HDMI Matrix switch i.e. 12-DirecTV receivers going to 16 widescreens up to 1,500 feet away.
An HDMI Extender Over Coax without additional transmitters or receivers is a One-To-One HDMI extender.

NOTE: Control of transmitters and receivers in multiple in and out applications is solely via the 8-DIP switches on each unit. There is no remote control.

HDMI Extender Over Coax Features:

  • Contains a transmitter (TX) and a receiver (RX). The TX supports a HDMI input and the RX supports a HDMI output.
  • Support HDMI resolution up to 1080P/60Hz.
  • Transmission distance up to 500 meters by SYV-75-5 RG6 coaxial cable and no need amplification.
  • Adding digital TV network mixer in RF cable, can easily achieve many kinds of transmission mode,e.g. signal split, switching and matrix.
  • Support 80 channels for option; frequency ranges 139MHz~950MHz.
  • Products using the broadcast signal transmission mode, only one line can transmit 48 channels of high-definition video signal at the same time.
  • The use of digital TV communication protocol, anti interference and error correction capability is very strong.
  • Installs in minutes. Analog monitor system upgrade to HD systems can continue to use the original connector and cable.
  • Includes a DC5V/1A power adapter
The HDMI Extender Over Coax provides digital coding processing for HDMI signal with DTV technology. No fiber and no special training required as well as you don't have the limitations on distance like you find in HDMI cabling and HD-SDI systems.

NOTE 2: This HDMI Coax Extender includes a SEND unit and its AC adapter and a RECEIVE unit and its AC adapter and both must be used. It cannot work with only one box and needs both boxes and must be used in pairs. It cannot be used to convert an incoming coax signal to an HDMI signal or vice versa. Think of it as a long HDMI cable.

HDMI to Coax Splitter FAQ:

  1. In normal conditions the transmission distance w/o amplification can be up to 500 meters or 1,500 feet using SYV-75-5 coaxial cables
  2. The signal strength will become weakened after adding DTV network mixers and multiple outputs as used in splitter and matrix applications.
  3. If the signal frequency is high, the transmission attenuation is greater. So choose low channel for long-distance transmission.
  4. When the transmission distance is short (less than 100 meters or 33 feet) the signal may be too strong and the receiver will protect the strong signal and display "NO SIGNAL" to the display. If that is the case you should choose a higher channel via DIP switches or add an attenuator in line with the coaxial cable for signal attenuation.
Our HDMI Extenders Over Coax offer solutions for noise, space and security concerns, data center control, information distribution, conference room presentation, school and corporate training environments.

Q: My coax distances are less than 300 feet, what do you recommended?
A:
These high powered units are designed to upwards of 1,500 feet but you will need to select a high channel like 80.
  • Transmit below 100m, please choose high channel;
  • Transmit below 100m, if you choose high channel and don't have no signal add one attenuator in series with the coaxial cable.
Another option is to send via CAT5e/6 HDMI extenders shown at HDMI to CAT5 Distribution to 300 Feet & Many TVs.

Q: Do you have any actual test reports of this HDMI Extender Over Coax extender?
A:
Here is what we have tested in our lab. TX means Transmitter and RX mean Receiver.
  • 1-TX to 1-RX: Using a 75 ohm RG6 coax cable it can transmit up to 500M or more by setting the dip switch channel to below 4CH.
  • 1-TX to 1-RX (buying and adding an amplifier): Using a 75 ohm RG6 coax cable it can transmit up to 500M. The distance is decided by an optional amplifier and we suggest you use an adjustable gain amplifier and place the location of TX after 200M.
  • Splitter mode (1-TX to 8-RX): Using a 75 ohm RG6 coax cable it can transmit over 500M and you can add many RXs in theory.
  • Splitter mode + Loop out mode: The transmit distance will be different because each TV splitter and has 3dB 5dB signal attenuation. We suggest you add one amplifier.
  • Matrix mode (6-TX to 6-RX): Using a 75 ohm coax cable you can transmit over 500M. You can connect many TXs and RXs in theory.
Please make sure you have selected the correct channel when you use these devices. To transmit an HDMI signal long distances please use lower channel and for shorter distance, use a high channel. Please see the below.
  • 400-500M: 1 to 5 CH
  • 200-400M: 5 to 20 CH
  • 100-200M: 20 to 80 CH
  • Below 100M: You will need attenuators due to the power of this unit. One will be supplied if you have this short length so tell us.
Q: What are the benefits of different frequencys?
A:
The HDMI Extender Over Coax support 80 channels of frequency ranges: 139MHz ~950MHz. If you use many transmitters and many receivers, only the transmitter and receiver have the same frequency as it can receive the signal. This function and anti-interference and error correction allows the unit to work flawlessly.

Q: Any tips you can give me on the install?
A:
In-house and existing passive splitters drop the signal strength in half, or more, so delete all of the splitters and wire this device directly as it won't work with coax splitters. They should NOT be used in conjunction with connector adapters, signal processors, switches or amplifiers between the Source and Display device. This HDMI Coax Adapter sends only one HDMI signal to a TV with the receive unit at the TV. It does not work any other way. If you are trying to send one coax signal to a TV with an HDMI input it won't work. One set includes a transmitter and a receiver set. Think of it as a long HDMI cable.

Your question:

Here is an example of setting up an HDMI matrix over coax.

EXAMPLE 1: We have 1-DirecTV satellite receiver and 1-DVD player connected to 4-widescreens that have 500 feet home run RG6 Quad-shield coax cables between the matrix and the widescreens. You will need the users manual for this.
  1. Set the DirecTV HDMI transmitter to CHANNEL 1 ID (00000001)
  2. Set the DVD player HDMI transmitter to CHANNEL 2 ID (00000010)
  3. Set widescreens 1 and 3 HDMI receivers to CHANNEL 1 ID (00000001)
  4. Set widescreens 2 and 4 HDMI receivers to CHANNEL 2 ID (00000010)
You now have set up the following:
  1. The DirecTV is now displaying on widescreens 1 and 3
  2. The DVD is now displaying on widescreens 2 and 4
EXAMPLE 2: In another example we will have 1-DirecTV satellite receiver connected to 4-widescreens that have 500 feet home run RG6 coax cables between the matrix and the widescreens.
  1. Set the DirecTV HDMI transmitter to CHANNEL 1 ID (00000001)
  2. Set the 4-widescreens HDMI receivers to CHANNEL 1 ID (00000001)
You now have the DirecTV displaying on all 4-widescreens as you have changed the frequency to match the DirecTV transmitter box. The important thing to know is if you are constantly changing ins and outs the HDMI transmitters and receivers DIP switches must be accessible as this is the only way to control the coax matrix. Its design is best used where changing ins and outs is minimum. Full control HDMI matrix switchers operated via a remote control or front panel controls can be seen the the above SIMILAR tab.

Hard to understand, do this...hand draw a diagram of the source devices on the left, the matrix in the middle and the widescreens on the right. Mark the cable lengths and what source you want to go to what widescreen. That will get you close to how to set the DIP switches (frequencys). You have 80-input and output frequencys available to you.
