DVI fiber optic cables has many advantages over traditional high definition copper cables:
- DVI fiber optic cables have a much greater bandwidth and they can carry more data so a high definiton picture will always look its best
- Fiber optic DVI cables are less susceptible to interference than metal cables
- Fiber optic DVI cables are lighter and thinner than metal wires
- Data can be transmitted digitally (the natural form for computer data) rather than via analog component cables
The main disadvantage of a fiber optic DVI cable is that it is expensive to install and somewhat fragile.
If picture quality is important to you and your cable length is long there is no better DVI cable than one made with fiber optics.
