4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control

routes HDMI high definition audio/video from any of four HDMI sources to any of 4 displays over HDMI cables. Because it is a matrix switcher, it allows any input to be sent to any output; or the same input to be sent to all outputs, or any of the 256 combinations.

This 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switcher switches quickly without any flashing as its design is to avoid the flashing, as seen by competitive HDMI matrix switchers, as it stores EDID which represents all the connected displays. This eliminates the source trying to adjust the resolution dynamically to fit the TVs which increases usability and lowers switching time. It also includes our new HDMI (FST) Fast Switching chip set allowing switching between sources to be as low as 2 seconds or less.

Fast Switching Technology (FST) is a software implementation for HDMI products and was created to improve the lengthy HDMI authentication process, based on the HDMI and HDCP specifications. FST allows connecting and disconnecting or turning ON / OFF of displays to be faster.

The EDID learning function is only necessary whenever you encounter any display on the HDMI output port that cannot play audio and video properly. Because the HDMI source devices and displays may have various level of capability in playing audio and video, the general principle is that the source device will output the lowest standards in audio format and video resolutions to be commonly acceptable among all HDMI displays. In this case, a 720p stereo HDMI signal output would be probably the safest choice. Nevertheless, the user can force the matrix to learn the EDID of the lowest capable HDMI display among others to make sure all displays are capable to play the HDMI signals normally.

The 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switcher with LAN control allows four HDMI devices to be switched or split easily to four HDMI compatible monitors or projectors. The 4X4 HDMI Switchers RS-232 control allows the switcher to also be controlled by 3rd party control systems like Crestron, Control4, or any computerized software/hardware control systems.

Why not buy this 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control today?

This 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control features a set of 8- EDID modes in addition to allowing any input source to receive a copy of the EDID information of any selected output. Changing the EDID settings may be necessary when connecting to or from a surround sound receiver or for passing 3D content derived from a cable or satellite set top box if the default EDID has problems.

Using one of the 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control internal EDID modes can also speed up the switching process with cable or satellite and many other sources.

If you use one of the internal EDID settings the source device will see the 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control EDID you chose instead of the display's EDID and overrides the display's own EDID information. If your display is not capable of accepting the video resolution or audio type selected, you may not have audio and/or video. In this case choose another more compatible EDID or use the default EDID.

Q: You have a great selection of 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switchers, do you have a comparison of them?
A:
Yes, see our UNDER $350 4X4 HDMI MATRIX COMPARISON to help you make a decision.

Q: Can I use unpowered HDMI over CAT5/6 extenders with this matrix?
A:
We don't recommend them with our matrices, or anyone elses, due to them consuming power from the matrix and the matrices are not designed to power many external devices.

Consider the example of 9 - HDMI balun transmitters that need 0.5a amp each to power it times 9 or 4.5 amps the matrix would have to supply. The power supply of this matrix is rated at 12v at 3.5 amp so in that example the matrix would probably break down and your warranty may be voided. See the companion powered HDMI extenders in the above OPTIONS that have 2-AC adapters.

Q: Your 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control says it supports FST, what is FST?
A:
This 4X4 HDMI Matrix Router incorporates FST (Fast Switching Technology). FST aloows faster switching when selecting different audio/video sources. In addition to fast switching, it improves overall audio/video system behavior as well as performance when more than one HDTV display is used in the system. FST allows you to connect and disconnect, and turn on/off, HDTV displays without affecting other hi-def sources routed to other HDTV displays in the same system. A transition that could typically take up to 10 seconds is now reduced to little or no delay. This is achieved through an improvement of the HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection) handshaking process, which has been implemented into this matrix.

Q: Would I be able to used an HDMI connection for audio only going to my audio receiver. This way I could get True HD Audio. Will this output work how I am describing?
A:
Yes, provided you do not turn On a display device that might be connected to the Output of your audio receiver. Some older displays do not have the ability to decode anything other than 2 channel stereo and when connected to a receiver via HDMI.

Q: I have a PC with HDMI out, how do I set it up?
A:
When your computer boots up, it looks for an EDID (extended display identification data) from the display to tell it what monitor is connected and what resolution to output. During boot up of the computer you should have ONLY one output selected to one input at a time so that the computer gets the EDID of the display that is selected. If you have multiple outputs selected to one computer, the computer will read the EDID of the last output selected to it. If all your displays are the same, or all displays are capable of running at the same resolution then this step does not matter.

Q: How does the EDID learning function work with this 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch with LAN control?
A:

There are eight embedded default EDID modes as below:

  1. Full-HD (1080p@60) - 24bit 2D & 2ch
  2. Full-HD (1080p@60) - 24bit 2D & 7.1ch
  3. Full-HD (1080p@60) - 24bit 3D & 2ch
  4. Full-HD (1080p@60) - 24bit 3D & 7.1ch
  5. HD (1080i@60) (720p@60) - 24bit 2D & 2ch
  6. HD (1080i@60) (720p@60) - 24bit 2D & 7.1ch
  7. Full-HD (1080p@60) - 36bit 2D & 2ch
  8. Full-HD (1080p@60) - 36bit 2D & 7.1ch
Q: I've made EDID changes but don't see an affect.
A:
When you make changes to the EDID, you need to either power cycle the display or change the inputs. This forces the display to relock onto the source.
